Lidl has unveiled a new range of affordable vegan products as it sets ambitious targets to lead the UK’s sustainable food movement.

With searches for “plant-based food” soaring by 96% this January, the plant-based movement is stronger than ever. Lidl is stepping up to meet the demand with the launch of a new range of wallet-friendly, plant-based products, with prices starting as low as £1.09.

This affordable collection is now part of the supermarket’s permanent Vemondo range, making plant-based living accessible for everyone.

Whether you’re committing to a vegan lifestyle or simply aiming for a more balanced diet, Lidl’s 28 new products offer something for every palate. From the hearty Meat Free Cordon Bleu to the satisfying Meat Free Drumsticks, these products are not only delicious but priced at just £1.99 each.

For seafood lovers, the Fish Free Fingers, also priced at £1.99, provide an affordable way to enjoy a taste of the sea.

For those craving everyday essentials, Lidl’s range delivers. The Beetroot Burgers and Barista Oat Milk, priced at £1.89 and £1.09 respectively, have earned accolades in the Vegan Food & Living supermarket awards.

Lidl’s dairy-free options are equally impressive. The collection includes Vegan Grated Cheese and Vegan Cream Cheese Spread, both available for just £1.75. For a sweeter touch, try their range of Soy Yogurts in Plain, Vanilla, or Blueberry, each priced at £1.09 per pot.

Driving growth in plant-based proteins

Lidl’s move comes in response to growing demand for plant-based products, with a 12% increase in category sales over the past year.

In 2024, the supermarket chain announced a ground-breaking plan to have plant-based proteins make up 25% of its total protein sales by 2030, marking an industry first for UK retailers.

To accelerate growth, Lidl will invest in enhanced marketing and increase visibility by introducing dedicated plant-based fixtures in stores.

“We’re the first UK retailer to set specific plant-based protein targets and are committed to breaking down key barriers like price, quality, and availability,” said Richard Bourns, Chief Commercial Officer at Lidl GB. He emphasised the company’s dedication to offering affordable, high-quality plant-based foods, making sustainable choices accessible to all customers.

This initiative is also seen as a crucial step in reducing Lidl’s scope 3 carbon emissions, which include indirect emissions from the products it sells.
