Oreo finally debuts vegan white fudge flavour … kind of

Oreo has a surprisingly long list of vegan-friendly flavours. Not only are classics like Double Stuf and Golden Oreo free from animal-derived ingredients, but several special edition varieties, including its collaboration with Reese’s, are vegan, too. Its latest vegan launch? White fudge.

There’s a twist, however. The new product isn’t actually an Oreo cookie, but a White Fudge Oreo Clif Builders Bar. Designed to support post-workout recovery, the bar delivers 20 grams of plant-based protein along with carbohydrates to help refuel after exercise. It marks the second collaboration between Clif and Oreo, following the launch of the original Oreo-flavoured Builders bar in 2025, which also contains 20 grams of protein.

“Following the strong success of our Builders Oreo-flavoured launch in 2025, we’re expanding the partnership platform in 2026 with a new White Fudge Oreo-flavoured protein bar,” said Saurabh Kaushik, Head of Clif & Builders Innovation at Mondelēz International. “This innovation continues to deliver what fans expect from Builders: high-quality ingredients, delicious taste, and high protein to help support post-workout recovery.”

Starbucks’ Unicorn FrappuccinoStarbucks’ 2017 favourite is coming back again, for a limited time. | Starbucks

Starbucks’ Unicorn Frappuccino is back again

Back in 2017, social media feeds were awash with heavily filtered photos of sparkly purple drinks from Starbucks. The beverage in question was, of course, the now-iconic (and vegan-friendly) Unicorn Frappuccino.

In a Reddit thread that same year, one Starbucks barista explained how to order the drink vegan: “I work at Starbucks. Order it with a non-dairy milk, no whip, and ask for some extra blue powder inside the cup instead of the sour blue drizzle. The blue powder is vegan and is what makes the blue drizzle sour-tasting.”

In April 2026, Starbucks tapped into nostalgia for the colourful beverage by bringing it back for Coachella. Now, the Unicorn Frappuccino is making another return—but there are two catches. First, it will only be available for three days. Second, Starbucks hasn’t revealed exactly when those three days will be. Watch this space.

Daily Harvest World CupDaily Harvest’s new lineup pays tribute to the host nations of the World Cup. | Daily Harvest

Celebrate the World Cup with Daily Harvest’s new smoothie range

The World Cup has officially kicked off, and Daily Harvest is celebrating the occasion with smoothies, of course.

The brand has launched three limited-edition blends inspired by the tournament’s host nations, and, as always, they’re all vegan. There’s Cherry Pie Protein for the US, Blueberry Maple for Canada, and Mango Chile for Mexico. Fans can try them individually or pick up the Hat-Trick Pack, which includes all three flavours.

“This summer, the world’s eyes will be on the three host nations of North America, and we wanted to celebrate the best way we know how: through delicious food powered by organic fruits and vegetables,” said Daily Harvest CEO Ricky Silver. “Each of these countries brings something extraordinary to the table, and that inspired us to capture those flavours in a cup.”

The smoothie brand is also running a sweepstakes tied to the launch, with vacation prizes to each of the three North American host countries up for grabs.

Vegan Food Network food truck champions set to open new restaurant in Denver

Back in 2023, Food Network’s The Great Food Truck Race crowned its second-ever vegan winner: The Easy Vegan. Now, founders Taylor Herbert and Alexi Mondolini are embarking on a new chapter. But this time, it’s one with a permanent home.

Their new restaurant, Mother Other, is set to open on South Broadway in Denver at the end of June. Like their award-winning food truck, the space will be entirely vegan, serving elevated plant-based dishes such as carrot and ginger bisque, potato and chive pierogi, and spring pea and leek dumplings.

“This place was built by community, inspired by the women who taught us hospitality & made possible by all of you,” the duo wrote in an Instagram post. “We can’t wait to share it with you.”

LesbiVeggies2LesbiVeggies has a brand new spot in Camden, and it’s already a hit. | LesbiVeggies

Cult-favorite New Jersey vegan restaurant  returns just in time for Pride Month

LesbiVeggies is back. The vegan, gluten-free restaurant previously operated in Audubon, New Jersey, but that location closed in 2024 after founder Brennah Lambert decided the neighbourhood wasn’t the right fit. Now, the business has found a new home in Camden, NJ, where Lambert says it’s connecting with a more diverse customer base.

“I just feel like what I’m going for now matches my surroundings,” she told Philadelphia Gay News. “I feel like I’m in the right space.”

The new location is already proving popular, serving an array of plant-based dishes, including cauliflower wings, birria tacos, fried oyster mushrooms, and more.

“People think that communities like Camden don’t care about their health or don’t want to try something different—that they wouldn’t want a vegan spot,” said Lambert. “But no, they’ve been waiting for it.”

Lidl has created vegan caviarThe new vegan caviar is made with seaweed.

Lidl has created vegan caviar, and it costs just over $2

Traditional caviar—the salt-cured, unfertilized eggs of sturgeon—is far from vegan, and it’s certainly not cheap. In fact, some of the world’s most expensive varieties can cost more than $34,000 per kilogram. But according to European grocery retailer Lidl, you can enjoy a similar experience without the fish eggs—or the eye-watering price tag.

Earlier this year, the retailer’s vegan seaweed pearls (aka plant-based caviar), which retail for £1.79—or just over $2 per tub, went viral in Ireland before making their way to the UK for Japan Week in May. Could the US be next? Keep a close eye on the shelves. Sold under Lidl’s Vitasia brand, the seaweed pearls come in two varieties: black and orange.

This Week’s Food News: Vegan Cottage Cheese Is Here, Steak Hits Whole Foods, and Oreos Get a Nostalgic Summer Twist

From vegnews.com

By Charlotte Pointing

From new shredded and cubed plant-based steak to a brand-new vegan  ice cream collaboration at Carvels, here’s the biggest vegan food news of the week

This is your one-week reminder: Mother’s Day weekend is almost here. If you haven’t picked up something special for your mom or mother figure yet, don’t worry—we’ve got you covered.

Check out our roundup of 40 vegan gift ideas for every kind of mom (yes, even the really, really hard-to-shop-for ones). You can also read more about Farmgirl Flowers and why a peony bouquet might be just the thing to put a smile on her face this year.

But before you start shopping, let’s dive into this week’s vegan food news.

Chunk Foods’ meaty vegan steak now available at Whole Foods

                                                                                                                         Chunk Foods

If you’re craving something meaty, juicy, tender, and unmistakably steak-like, it might be time to head to Whole Foods Market and pick up some Chunk. The popular plant-based meat brand—known for its whole-cut alternatives made from plants—is now available at the retailer. The news was shared by Alex Malamud, the brand’s VP of business, on LinkedIn.

Alongside an image of Chunk Pulled, Chunk Steak, and Chunk Moroccan Spice Cubes, Malamud wrote: “There are moments in business that feel bigger than the shelf they land on. Seeing Chunk launch in Whole Foods Market is one of those moments for me … It’s a reminder that big milestones are usually built through long, incremental work. Persistence matters. Belief matters. Showing up again and again matters.”

He added: “If you stop by Whole Foods and don’t see us on the shelf … there’s a decent chance we are … sold out.”

Kite Hill’s new cream cheese has double the protein compared to conventional cream cheese

                                                                                                                              Kite Hill

Often, vegans get asked: “Where do you get your protein?” Sometimes it’s a genuine question—and one that deserves a real answer. But if you want to keep things simple, you could just hand them a tub of Kite Hill’s new cream cheese.

The popular dairy-free brand’s Protein Cream Cheese Alternative packs four grams of protein per serving. That’s double the amount found in many traditional dairy versions.

“Consumers have always turned to dairy for protein, but that benefit has been missing from dairy-free options, especially in cream cheese,” said Connie Sintuvat, VP of Marketing at Kite Hill, in a statement. “We saw an opportunity to bring protein into a format people already love, without sacrificing taste or texture.”

Treeline’s vegan cottage cheese is back and coming to a grocery store near you

Treeline’s vegan cottage cheese is in high demand. In fact, it’s been so popular that the brand has struggled to keep it in stock—every time a new batch drops, it quickly sells out. If you’ve been waiting to get your hands on it, now’s your chance, because its Non-Dairy Cottage Cheese is currently available on its website.

The good news doesn’t stop there. Treeline is also on a mission to make the product more accessible than ever. In a recent Instagram post, the brand hinted that it will be rolling out to grocery stores by the end of the year.

“Yes, Vegan Cottage Cheese does exist! If you don’t do dairy but still miss cottage cheese, we made this just for you! You can’t get it anywhere else—at least for now! In stores later this year …,” the post reads.

Oreo launches a triple-flavoured summer cookie

                                                                                                                         Nabisco

We’re eternally grateful that classic Oreo cookies are accidentally vegan—after all, what pairs better with a chilled glass of oat milk? But it gets even better: most of the time (though not always), the brand keeps animal ingredients out of its limited-edition releases, too.

That seems to be the case with its new Firecracker Pop Oreos, which feature not one, but three summery flavours. Inspired by the classic popsicle, the crème is infused with raspberry, lemon, and cherry.

Iconic ice cream parlour chain Carvel unveils new vegan menu

                                                                                                             Big Box Vegan

Popular ice cream chain Carvel has experimented with vegan options in the past. In 2024, for example, it teamed up with Oatly to offer a range of dairy-free soft serves, hard scoops, ice cream sandwiches, and dessert cakes.

Now, per Big Box Vegan, the brand has partnered with dairy-free favourite Klimon to introduce yet another line-up of vegan-friendly soft serve and hard scoops, in flavours like strawberry, chocolate, cold brew, pistachio, mint Oreo, cookies and cream, and chocolate peanut butter.

For now, these new options are only available in the New York metro area, but there are hints of a wider rollout in the future—so stay tuned.

The chain is offering a special breakfast menu, featuring breakfast patties, hash browns, iced coffee, and more, from 10am until 2pm on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

VegNews.ImpossibleFoodsImpossible Foods enters a new chapter following leadership change. | Impossible Foods

Impossible Foods’ CEO is stepping down

Impossible Foods CEO Peter McGuinness, who took over from founder Pat Brown four years ago, is stepping down.

During his tenure, McGuinness sought to give plant-based meat a new image by emphasizing nutrition over the climate benefits of vegan protein, which had previously been the company’s key focus. Following his departure, chief legal officer Jason Gao, chief demand officer Meredith Madden, and chief supply officer Robert Hass will take over leadership of the company.

“Impossible is primed to further strengthen its position in the marketplace as a respected food company built for long-term success,” Fedele Bauccio, a member of Impossible Foods’ board of directors, said in a statement. “We’re grateful for Peter’s impactful leadership as CEO, which helped establish Impossible as the strongest player in the category.”

Vegan wings are a tasty option for Super Bowl Sunday. | Danielle Brown

New study says more than 50 percent of Americans want plant-based wings for the Super Bowl

The Super Bowl is here, and for many people, that means eating a wings, and a lot of them. But according to a new poll by the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM), more than 50 percent of Americans would chow down on plant-based wings over chicken ones, if they were available. The poll also found that young adults were more likely to consider trying plant-based wings if they were on offer.

Are you among them? Check out some of our favorite vegan wings here. “Whether you are an armchair quarterback or in the end zone, choosing a plant-based diet is a win for good health,” says Stephanie McBurnett, RDN, a nutrition educator for PCRM.
