USA: Vafels Launches First-Ever Gluten-Free and Vegan ‘Stroopvafel’

From vegworldmag.com

Vafels, the premier plant-based waffle brand, proudly announces the launch of the first-ever gluten-free and vegan-friendly version of the classic stroopwafel. This long-awaited innovation meets the demand of consumers seeking a delicious, 100% plant-based and gluten-free take on the classic Dutch treat.

“As the premier plant-based waffle brand, Vafels always aims to be a leader in bringing innovative waffle products to market,” said Will Dugan, founder and CEO of Vafels. “We came to market early with a plant-based version of the 18th-century Liège wafel, and couldn’t be happier to add gluten-free and vegan-friendly Stroopvafels to our list of ‘firsts.’ We stand by our commitment to creating products that never compromise on taste, texture, or digestibility—so more people can enjoy alternatives to uninspiring energy bars, without the tummy aches.”

Stroopwafels, traditionally made with butter, eggs, and wheat flour, have long been off-limits to those with dietary preferences. Vafels has changed that by crafting the ‘Stroopvafel,’ preserving the rich, caramel-like filling and crisp, chewy texture, without gluten or animal-based ingredients.

The new Gluten-Free and Vegan Stroopvafels are available now in best-selling flavours Caramel and Maple, with more varieties in development. Each Stroopvafel features a soft caramel filling sandwiched between two crisp, gluten-free waffle cookies.

Beyond its plant-based focus, Vafels believes food should inspire movement. Every Vafels product is intentionally crafted to provide lasting energy and digestive comfort—ideal for athletes, adventurers, and anyone on the go.

This launch reinforces Vafels’ mission to make plant-based, better-for-you treats more accessible to health-conscious consumers with active lifestyles. With the vegan food market in the CPG industry growing at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of approximately 10%, Vafels continues to elevate the standard for indulgence without compromise.

The name “Vafels” carries a two-fold inspiration: a nod to the Dutch pronunciation of “waffles” and a subtle reference to the brand’s vegan-friendly mission through the prominent “V.”

Charcoal, peanuts or matcha? Pop-up brings vegan waffles to Brussels

From brusselstimes.com/brussels-2/1470045

A new pop-up shop in Brussels is bringing a vegan twist and unique flavours to the classic Belgian delicacy.

Belgium is divided on many issues, but united in its love for a traditional waffle. The sweet treat can be traced back to the 15th century, but remains a staple in Belgian culture even now.

Though some may consider having any topping other than sugar or cream to be "blasphemous," the Belgian company Lehios has taken on the challenge of bringing a new flavour profile to the treat, with a healthier twist.

As a Liège native, Paolo Bari, the creator of Lehios, was no stranger to the world of waffles. But as a boxer, his choices for treats were limited. "At the time, I made do with protein bars, but they were often unsatisfactory," Bari writes on Lehios' website.

That's when he had an epiphany: "Why not create a waffle that meets my needs? A nourishing, digestible waffle, with proteins, quality fats, less sugar, and new flavours," Bari said.

Until 8 March, Lehios' protein vegan waffles will be available at a pop-up 'Waffle Bar' by the entrance of the Brüt by färm Tenbosch shop in Ixelles.
