There’s an active recall on vegan protein bars across Canada, according to the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA).
The product recalled is the Nutrabolics brand Feed Me Vegan Protein and Oat bars in their chocolate coconut flavour. The affected bars have a UPC of “7 93888 65557 7,” lot number NB050 and a best by date written as “NOV 15 2024.” The 65-gram bars were recalled after the CFIA positively tested that they contained milk, which is not written on the label.
While there are no illnesses connected to this recall, if you strictly follow a vegan diet or if you’re allergic or sensitive to dairy and have this product on hand, dispose of it or return it to your place of purchase immediately. Those with a dairy allergy that eat one of these recalled protein bars may unexpectedly experience symptoms of anaphylaxis, including hives, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain and, in most severe cases, trouble breathing, tightness in the throat and cardiac arrest. Call 911 if you’re experiencing signs of an allergic reaction after consuming the recalled Nutrabolics bar.
If you have questions regarding this recall, contact the CFIA toll-free at 1-800-442-2342 or email information@inspection.gc.ca.
