Veganism has skyrocketed over the last few years and doesn’t seem to show any sign of slowing down.
Not only is the shift towards a plant-based diet great for animals and the environment, but there are also a number of personal benefits to the diet.
In addition to vegans reporting losing weight and having more energy, a recent study by Holland & Barrett has shown that 35 per cent of Londoners who have adopted a vegan diet have seen an increased libido.
The study also found that 50 per cent of vegans in London reported having more energy after switching diets.
Long time vegan and Baywatch star Pamela Anderson recently debated the idea of vegans making better lovers with Piers Morgan on ITV’s Good Morning Britain.
Pamela received widespread attention after she tweeted: “Vegans make better lovers.
“You can improve your overall health and increase stamina in the bedroom by going vegan”, she continued.
Pamela then sent out a second tweet continuing her campaign for a vegan diet improving one’s sex life saying: “Going vegan can help men of all ages boost their sexual performance and reduce the risk of prostate cancer at the same time.”
However, the reported benefits do not stop there.
The study showed that overall 43 per cent of vegans noticed a boost in their energy levels, 48 per cent of vegans said they had lost weight, and 47 per cent said they had noticed glowing or cleared up skin.
While an increased libido and reportedly better sex life may not be enough for all to ditch the meat for good, the study also found that 1 in 10 UK adults said that the coronavirus pandemic has made a vegan diet more appealing.
With public health being such a central topic over the last year throughout the pandemic, it is not a surprise that many are focused on having a healthier lifestyle - and a vegan diet might just be one way to do that.
