UK: New and improved vegan Boursin cheese launches in time for Christmas

From veganfoodandliving.com

Bel UK is set to launch a ‘luxurious’ new vegan Boursin that more closely resembles the classic, crumbly soft cheese

Boursin Plant-Based, the newest addition to Bel Group’s line-up of vegan alternatives, has been confirmed for launch this month.

Designed to mimic the familiar flavour and texture of Boursin’s popular dairy-based Garlic & Herbs cheese, this plant-based version promises a creamy, luxurious alternative that will be a great fit for festive vegan cheeseboards.

Priced at £2.99 for 150g, the new Boursin Plant-Based offers a rich garlic, parsley, and chive flavour, crafted to be versatile for various culinary uses.

This rich taste, along with Boursin’s crumbly yet spreadable texture, means the new vegan cheese will be ideal for spreading on bagels, serving with crudités, or even melting into a pasta sauce.

The new and improved vegan Boursin Plant-Based will launch on 18th November with retailers to be announced soon.

Boursin’s vegan cheese range

This is not the first vegan Boursin product to hit the shelves. In 2021, Bel Group launched a vegan Boursin spread, also under the name Boursin Plant-Based.

Launched as an alternative to its classic Garlic & Herbs dairy cheese, the spread is available in a plastic tub and has been considered less premium than its dairy-based predecessor.

In a review of the dairy-free Boursin spread, Vegan Food & Living reported that the vegan alternative offered less of the punchy herb flavour of classic Boursin and lacked its coarse, crumbly texture.

However, this new iteration of the product promises to be a better match for the popular dairy-based version.

Bel UK’s senior brand manager, Anna Petsi, highlighted the attention given to ensuring the new vegan Boursin lives up to the classic dairy cheese.

Speaking to The Grocer, Petsi said, “We’ve worked to ensure the flavour, texture and packaging of new Boursin Plant-Based aligns with all the key purchase drivers that our shoppers expect from dairy Boursin. Consumers tell us they really love the taste and texture.”

Bel UK’s growing vegan cheese line-up

Bel Group’s range of plant-based products has expanded over recent years to include vegan versions of popular lunch box cheeses Babybel and Laughing Cow.

While the response to vegan Babybels and Laughing Cow has been mixed, with reviews varying on taste and texture, Boursin’s more premium profile and versatile uses may help its latest offering prove more popular.

Bel Group is also planning a collaboration with online vegan recipe creators BOSH!, who will develop a collection of dishes featuring the new vegan Boursin.
