Ditching dairy just got a whole lot more doable as Catherine’s Originals debuts a plant-based alternative to the traditional Quality Street and Roses chocolate selection tins
This Christmas, vegans across the UK can enjoy a vegan chocolate selection tin at their festive celebrations as the first-ever premium alternative hits the shelves.
Since the 1930s, collectable tins filled with a selection of individually wrapped chocolates have become synonymous with Christmas time in the UK.
Originally only something enjoyed by the wealthy, Christmas chocolate selection tins are now entrenched in festive tradition, with the market worth an estimated £1.8bn in the UK, according to data from Circana.
But until now, vegans have had to forgo this festive treat and instead opt for vegan chocolate bars or simple boxes of vegan truffles.
Vegan Catherine Dodd saw a gap in the market after she was left out of the festive family tradition of sharing a tin of Quality Streets and founded Catherine’s Originals in 2021, which proved to be a sell-out hit.
Following a successful fundraising round and winning The Deliveroo Big Pitch, Catherine has been able to roll out the vegan Christmas selection tins to a wider market.
What’s in the vegan chocolate selection tins?
So, what can we expect from the new vegan chocolate selection tins? Each dairy-free selection tin from Catherine’s Originals contains 81 individually wrapped chocolates in a choice of 9 delicious flavours.

- Popped Cherry – a pink cherry chocolate in the shape of pursed lips
- Dangerously in Love – a coffee flavoured truffle
- Heartbreaker – an orange and almond flavoured chocolate
- Snap-me-Coconut – soft coconut covered in chocolate
- Bite-me-Balls – filled with caramel
- Tease Me – crunchy vegan honeycomb
- Milky-O’s – hazelnut praline
- Baby I’m Blue – an unusual blend of lavender and chamomile
Sustainable credentials
All of the vegan Christmas chocolates in the selection tins are also gluten-free, certified by Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) and made from Fairtrade cocoa. The tin is also reusable and recyclable.
To recreate the creaminess of traditional non-vegan chocolates, ingredients include almond butter, gluten-free oat flour, cocoa butter and soy protein.
Catherine’s Originals Selection Tins cost £30 with shipping starting at the end of September.
You can also purchase a smaller selection of 31 chocolates, which come in a box rather than a tin. These are priced at a more affordable £13.50.
The vegan chocolate tins and boxes are available to order online at catherinesoriginals.com as well as over 60 independent retailers in the UK.
