A sweet treat has taken top honours in a national vegan food competition.
Pipp & Co, an artisan bakery based in Swindon, has won 'Best Doughnut' in PETA’s 2025 Vegan Food Awards for its rhubarb and ginger jam doughnut, just months after launching its first ever vegan range.
The doughnut features the bakery’s slow-proved brioche dough, but made without any animal products.
It is filled with homemade rhubarb and ginger jam and topped with a light, golden crust.
Mario Evangelista, co-owner of Pipp & Co, said: "We are so proud of this recognition from PETA.
"Our rhubarb and ginger jam doughnut has been a customer favourite since day one, and it is wonderful to see our vegan range celebrated in this way.
"We have always believed that plant-based baking should feel truly satisfying and full of flavour – this award proves it can be both."
Handcrafted in Pipp & Co’s Swindon bakery, the doughnut uses natural, preservative-free ingredients, with a focus on locally sourced produce where possible.

Each doughnut is made using a 48-hour process to achieve its pillowy texture.
Dawn Carr, PETA’s vice president of vegan corporate projects, said: "As beautiful as it is delicious, Pipp & Co’s rhubarb and ginger jam doughnut stood out with its fluffy bite and generous filling of sweet jam with a hint of spice, making it a clear winner in PETA’s Vegan Food Awards.
"We’re excited to see what vegan delights Pipp & Co dreams up next."
The PETA Vegan Food Awards celebrate plant-based innovation across the UK and highlight products that make vegan eating more accessible and appealing.
Pipp & Co’s menu includes a variety of other baked goods, with both traditional and vegan offerings.
Their vegan doughnuts are free from dairy, eggs, and other animal ingredients, but are made to match the taste and texture of their classic range.
The bakery’s commitment to sustainability and high-quality, handcrafted baking is reflected in its choice of organic, locally sourced ingredients and its focus on delivering exceptional flavour in every product.
