Pacifico Biolabs, a company specializing in the production of meat alternatives, recently received €680,000 in public funding. This funding will be used to further develop the innovative mycelium fermentation technology the company uses to produce its innovative meat alternatives.
Pacifico Biolabs’ technology is based on the use of mycelium to produce vegan products that can completely replace conventional meat products. According to the company, this method not only offers compelling taste alternatives but also offers nutritional benefits: The products contain up to 30 percent protein and are made from just five natural ingredients.
A key advantage of this technology is its environmental friendliness. According to Pacifico Biolabs, production creates 99 percent less environmental impact, as land, water, and CO2 consumption can be significantly reduced. This meets increasing consumer demands for sustainable yet tasty alternatives to animal products.

Public funding is intended to pave the way for a broader market launch of these environmentally friendly meat alternatives. Pacifico Biolabs sees itself as a pioneer in the transformation to more sustainable protein sources. “After two decades of over-formulated plant-based products, it’s time to change tactics,” explains Zac Austin, co-founder and CEO of Pacifico, on LinkedIn .
Austin highlights the successful collaboration with Morrow Collective , which made the funding success possible. The consulting firm supported Pacifico Biolabs throughout the application process. “I highly recommend the Morrow Collective team,” says Austin. “We will definitely work with them again.”
Pacifico Biolabs is at the forefront of a movement in Germany that could transform the food market for good. The company plans to use the new funding to further advance its mission of developing uncompromising meat alternatives.
