The Best Vegan Handbags…According To Us

From theveganreview.com

A regular challenge for many fashion-conscious vegans can be the search for the perfect bag…the perfect shoes…etc. We live in a world where sadly leather is still the “go to” material for products such as these but thankfully, FINALLY, things are starting to change. It’s not so difficult to find the best vegan handbags these days…you just have to know where to look. And this is where we thought we could help in making your search that little bit easier.

What Are Vegan Handbags Made Of?

Interestingly, it depends on the brand making them. Many companies use a faux leather which is usually made from polyurethane; a plastic that can be made into different textures. Other companies opt for waxed cotton, recycled rubber, and even cork. Other environmentally-friendly vegan leathers can be made from fruit waste such as pineapple fibre or other fruit skin. It can also be made from tree bark, recycled plastic, or pineapple bush leaves which is called Piñatex.  Pretty varied and always going to smell a lot more beautiful than animal skin leather.

So let’s get on with it and take a look at the best vegan handbags…according to us.

The Best Vegan Handbags

Alex backpack, Loom, Matt and Nat, £105

Matt and Nat Look bag

As usual, I’m going to begin with one of my absolute favourite brands. A brand I *may* have bought quite a few bags from to the extent I have my own personal collection.

I love this bag for its practicality, comfort and style. The colour (Harvest) is stunning and really stands out for the summer. It’s just gorgeous.

The lining of the Matt and Nat range of bags is made from recycled water bottles which you could never tell because of the softness; in fact it’s only the subtle message stamped on the inside that gives it away.

Stella McCartney, Freyme Medium Flap Shoulder Bag, £895

Stella McCartney bag

Now, what’s it they say about bags like this? Oh yes…they aren’t expensive, they’re an investment. And I absolutely agree. We really love the Freyme in white, especially for the summer months. The signature silver and gold diamond-cut chain is a beautiful accent, along with the Stella McCartney circular tag. Again, classic and beautiful.

Wilby, Light Snake V Clutch, £80

Wilby Clutch

This large vegan clutch bag is made from cork in the style of croc skin. It can hold more than you imagine and would be the perfect accessory for an evening out or even a wedding. Again, we chose this as the colour is great for the summer season and would suit a range of different outfits. We absolutely love the gold detailing.

Sinbono, Black Fiona Shoulder Bag, £154

Fiona handbag

Oh my, what can we say about this bag? It could be, THE best vegan handbag on the list. Classic in style, with the front buckle and a single shoulder strap. It’s perfect for everyday use and is bound to acquire many an admiring comment.

Kaia Mar, Vegan Cactus Leather Handbag, £320

Similarly classic to the Sinbono above but we had to include it because it’s a truly stunning bag. Plus it’s made from cactus leather which is pretty cool, no?

Such a simple design with the square cut edges and elegant, small detailing. We love that the handle is slightly chunkier and gives the whole look a more edgy feel. Gorgeous!

Nanushka, The Origami Tote, £895

Definitely a bag that stands out! The Origami Tote’s main party trick is that it can fold down entirely flat. Cool, right? We love this bag because of the style and amount of storage it offers. The unique stitching really adds a finishing detail to the patchwork effect.

Mashu, Wooden Handle Tote Bag, £460

Mashu bag

We really couldn’t NOT include this bag, it’s so unique and so super stunning. This bag is handcrafted in Greece using cactus leather with an internal pouch made from hemp. Bringing us some of the best vegan handbags around, the Mashu range is heavily focused on sustainability; ensuring the materials used in production are not going to damage the planet. Definitely the brand for you if you like something a little different.
