Christmas dinners can still be delicious and meat-free
With there being a growing interest for people looking for ways to be sustainable and lower their carbon footprint, veganism is becoming more popular as a lifestyle choice.
Therefore, there are more and more creative recipes to adhere to this lifestyle.
Here are some alternative vegan Christmas dinners you can enjoy this year with your family- whether you’re vegan or not!
Nut roast
The great thing about vegan meals is that many of them are good sources of fibre. This can be helpful if you have symptoms of IBS for example. Just make sure you have access to a toilet before eating! Nut roast is a tasty meal that means you don’t miss out on the classic roast element of Christmas. You can use a variety of nuts to make this meal such as cashew nuts, pistachios and more. You can also pair the nut roast with roast potatoes.

There are vegan-friendly chicken alternatives which means you can still enjoy it, as it has a similar texture to chicken with vegan chicken. This can be made with soybeans, for example. Some plant-based food stores have these available, and all you do is simply season and pop it in the oven!
Sweet potato parcel
If you’re looking for a neat moreish dish for Christmas, a sweet potato parcel may do the trick. You can have it as a centrepiece and enhance the flavours with sage and chestnuts.
Vegan Christmas wreath
If you fancy being festive in a creative way with your meal, a vegan Christmas wreath may be worth trying. You can bake it with green vegetables like spinach and red fruits like cranberries, to link in with festive colours of the season. Tofu can be the filling of the edible wreath to ensure you are filled up by the end of the meal.
Vegan pie
If you want to continue with the rich Christmas colours, why not try out a vegan pie with a beetroot filling to give off that rich red colour. You can also layer the pie with other fillings including celery, and sweet potato. This way you know you will be pleasantly filled.
Whole roasted cauliflower
If you want another option for a vegan Christmas roast meal, a roasted cauliflower could do the trick. To enhance the flavour, season it well with garlic, fresh thyme, almonds and any other spices you are a fan of.
Pan-fried Brussels Sprouts with Tofu Bacon
Brussel sprouts are a classic go-to and because they are veg, thankfully you can still include them in a vegan Christmas meal. However, instead of boiling them, why not pan-fry them to give them more of a crispy and crunchy feel. Having the brussels sprouts with tofu bacon strips and caramelised onions can give more of a sweetness to this dish too.
