Tasty vegan pies that should be on your dessert menu

From sports.yahoo.com

A vegan diet doesn’t mean you have to skip dessert.  Whatever your sweet tooth desires after dinner, there’s probably a plant-based option that’s just as satisfying. And while pies typically scream eggs, milk and creamy fillings, there are plenty of vegan-friendly pie recipes out there that you can try. Here are five delicious vegan pies that you can make yourself, courtesy of vegan TikTok.

1. Vegan and low-calorie crustless pumpkin pie

This is the perfect plant-based pie for autumn. TikToker @shannhebert mixes pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, salt, baking powder, oat flour, sweetener, vanilla extract and a can of pumpkin puree in a bowl. She then adds a cup of unsweetened coconut milk and mixes it in thoroughly. Finally, she adds a tablespoon of flax seeds as a thickener. She pours the mixture into a pie pan and places it in the oven for 40 minutes. Once baked, it’s ready to slice up and eat with your favourite vegan whipped topping or plant-based ice cream!

Yes, you can veganize a chocolatey, creamy dessert! TikToker @vegantastesgood first melts vegan butter and marshmallows in a pot and thins the mixture with some plant-based milk. She then whisks in some non-dairy semi-sweet chocolate chips. Once the chocolate chips are melted and mixed in, she pours the chocolatey filling into a cooked vegan pie crust and places it in the fridge for at least two hours. Then she spreads coconut whipped cream on top and garnishes the pie with cocoa powder and more vegan chocolate chips!

Avocado does a lot of the heavy lifting when it comes to this plant-based dessert. First, TikToker @lvsings makes the crust by blending coconut flakes, pecans, medjool dates, some lime zest and a pinch of salt. Then she moulds the mixture into a pie pan. For the filling, she blends four avocados, some lime juice, honey, coconut oil and lime zest. Once blended, she adds the filling to the crust and freezes the pie for two hours. Once the pie is ready, feel free to garnish the final product with some toasted coconut flakes!

4. Vegan cherry pie

Fruity pie fans, rejoice! This vegan cherry pie will not only satisfy your tart taste buds, but it’s also super simple to make. Add four cups of cherries, some coconut sugar, lemon juice and cornstarch to a bowl, and stir them until combined. Then, transfer the filling to a vegan pie crust (lattice optional). Bake for 40 minutes, and then it’s ready to eat!
